I just read through the entire insulin resistance book in a day. Pretty easy read. I am now starting to use the link and balance method.
For breakfast I had oatmeal & milk.
I am starting this diet in hopes that I will eventually achieve a healthy weight. I have had PCOS since I have been 15, I am now 25. I am currently at 173lbs, 5'3. I went to the doctor last week because I have not been able to lose weight with diet and exercise. She looked at me like I was lying, tested my blood, all levels came back normal. My mother within the last few years been diagnosed with diabetes. Both of my grandpas also had diabetes. I do not want to head down that path. My mom said all her blood tests were normal, until she got sick. In the book it explains I could have some levels of insulin resistance that did not show up on the blood tests. I have plenty of the symptoms of insulin resistance, so why not see if this works.
I have no problem cutting back on carbs from my diet. Although, I do enjoy dessert every once in awhile. This book explains how to "splurge" effectively.
I will be trying to follow this diet to a T, including work-outs. My boyfriend has put me on a dumbbell workout plan scheduled for M,W,F. This plan also includes cardio after the strength training.
My ideal weight is 145, let's do it!!! Bring on bathing suit season ;)
